SLO County Livestock Guarding Dog Impacts on Coyotes and other Mesopredators

These photos are part of a Cal Poly Master's thesis project on the effectiveness of livestock guarding dogs (LGDs) as a control method for coyote depredation on sheep. Part of this project will involve the use of camera traps to assess behavioral changes in coyotes and other mesopredators in response to the implementation of the LGDs.

We plan to have 30 camera traps located across our three field sites: Sheep Unit, Cal Poly; Laetitia Vineyard and Winery; and Chorro Creek Reserve.
